Experience the satisfaction of serving.

Service in the Michigan Defense Force is a deeply rewarding experience. While giving back to your community and state, you’ll also develop valuable skills in areas such as leadership, land navigation, search and rescue (SAR), drill and ceremony, CPR, basic life support, and more. Unlike the National Guard, the Michigan Defense Force cannot be federalized. This means your missions will always remain within the borders of the great State of Michigan. Take the first step by completing your application here.

Who We Are
The Michigan Defense Force has been serving Michigan since 1917. While the times have changed, the mission has stayed the same: to be “Ready and Able”.
